OUR programs:
Private Music Lessons meet each week at a location that is best for the student and teacher. Mr. Loos teaches Horn and Trumpet; and Mrs. Loos teaches Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, and Tuba. Mr. and Mrs. Loos choose study and performance materials based on the student's individual abilities and needs. Ukulele Group Instruction is facilitated by Mrs. Loos. These classes are organized into 6-week sessions with a small group of friends or family who want to learn together. They can take more of a jam session approach or a formal learning approach, depending upon the age and interest of participants. A minimum of 5 musicians is needed to make a class, and groups are limited to 10 musicians. Please email info@loos-studios.com for more information. OUR TEACHERS:
Mrs. Kristin Loos earned her Master's degree in Music Education from Boston University in 2010 and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Valparaiso University in 2000.
Mrs. Loos has over 17 years of classroom teaching experience as a Music Teacher, Elementary Choir Director, Low Brass Teacher, and Pit Orchestra Conductor. She has played trombone with Windiana and the Southshore Orchestra. She has presented numerous sessions at music educator conferences at the state and national level. Mrs. Loos was named the Indiana Outstanding Elementary Music Educator of the Year in 2013, and her Elementary Choir won the NAfME "Music In Our Schools Bus Tour" contest and a grant from the Give-A-Note Foundation in 2015. Her favorite classes to teach are with the smallest musicians who are just starting their journeys and just learning to love music! In addition to working at Loos Studios, Mrs. Loos is a Tour Consultant at Brightspark Travel. Her professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education and Indiana Music Education Association. Mr. Phillip Loos received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Valparaiso University and his Master of Education degree from Purdue University. He currently teaches orchestra at the Osceola County School for the Arts in Central Florida. He recently taught orchestra in the Duneland School Corporation (Chesterton, IN). Mr. Loos played horn with the South Shore Chamber Orchestra and performed with the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest, working under world-renowned musicians Jay Friedman and Riccardo Muti. He has also played with Windiana Professional Concert Band, the LaPorte Symphony Orchestra and the Memorial House Theatre Company. He has served as a Lecturer in Music Theory and Music Appreciation at Purdue University Northwest and as director of Orchestras and AP Music Theory at Highland High School.
He has also served as the pit orchestra director for the Highland Theatre Company (HTC) and as Director of Music Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church of Valparaiso. He studied horn with William C. Robinson, Lee Shirer, John Schreckengost, and Andrew Bain and strings with Dennis Friesen-Carper, Nora Frisk, Jennifer Zeigner, Karl Linden, and Kamen Vatchev. His professional memberships include National Association for Music Education, Indiana Music Education Association (in which he served two years as Area I Representative on the Board of Directors), American String Teachers Association, Chicago Federation of Musicians, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. and Mrs. Loos live in Saint Cloud, FL with daughters Naomi (b.2004) and Charlotte (b.2010), a dog named Boomerang, and a fish named Mr. Bubbles. Naomi studied Double Bass with Steve Lester and played in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. Charlotte began piano lessons in 2017 and hopes to one day play the harp.
